not exactly knitting, but fun!

My mom got me a sewing machine for an early Christmas present, and so when I got back to school yesterday I tested it out by making some snuggly, warm, new mittens out of sweaters! Here's the formula.

2 sweaters + 1 yard of fleece = SNUGGLY SWEATER MITTENS!

Plus they are so cute! I got my roommates hooked on crafting last year during finals week when I taught them how to knit (great for stress and productive procrastination!), and so tonight I taught them how to make their own mittens too.

Along with the cute mittens, I've been getting into the Christmas spirit in many ways, including painting my nails in candy cane stripes. I love love LOVE them... Unfortunately, I tried to make my bed while they were still semi-wet, and I ruined part of the other hand :P Oh well, it's still beautiful and Christmasy!

Pics will be up soon of some blue moc-a-socks, as well as a pink pair (both WIPs), and a pair of black toddler mittens I just finished today. Also on my WIP list is a plum colored scarf to match my peacoat (I probably won't pick that up again until after Christmas; I just need to focus on my list of Christmas gifts and orders) and a super awesome powder blue voyageur's hat for my boyfriend's brother.

Ahhhhhh I freaking love Christmas!
